I have just bought a early 2009 13" MacBook. Specs 2.0 Hz intel core 2 duo, 128gb hard drive, 2gb ram. It has OS x Mountain lion.
My worry is that a couple of mac people have told me that a laptop of this age and spec will struggle with mountain lion. Do you think this is correct? I certainly seem to be having problems but they may be me!!! Ormegolfv

Pretty much what I am running and its works just fine

I would upgrade the RAM to at least 4 gig tho, I think the maximum is 6 gig

My 2008 Macbook Pro runs ML just fine, though I did add more memory awhile back.

2008 here also. Just upgraded to 8gig of memory and Mountion Lion. My MacBook pro is smoking fast and doing fine. And all for about $40.

My wife ran ML on a 2008 MB Aluminum with 2.4Ghz 4GB of RAM and did have a few complaints about beach balls. We bumped it to 8GB and I thought it was fine, she didn't. Keep in mind she insists on having (literally) 40 Safari tabs open at any time and sleeps/awakes/opens/closes it 10+ times a day without rebooting for weeks or even a few months at a time. Guess my point is that it should run fine if you run it in a sane manner. Last time I ran CCC on hers, it has a 14GB sleep file. ;)

I'm debating about bumping my wife's MBA up to Mountain Lion because she is hard-limited to 2GB of RAM. She's not a demanding user (unless you could Pottermore as "demanding") and her drive is an SSD so it would still be quick, but I have to wonder. It's a late 2010 model, so I'm inclined to leave it on Lion unless I hear from MBA owners that ML will be okay with it.

I should have mentioned that on my 2009 MacBook Pro, I have 8GB of RAM ... and of course Mountain Lion, which is running beautifully.
