i bought a macbook off of craigslist here in NYC is in pretty good shape 2 gig ram 160 gig hdd everything functions kinda nice.. battery only lasts for like 2 hours is it messed up?

what year is it? i was told 08 model

At that age, the battery is probably getting old, but of course it very much depends on what you're doing. Try turning the screen brightness down as low as you can stand it, turn off Bluetooth if you're not using it, and avoid really battery intensive uses (like watching a DVD) when on battery only and you'll probably get more life out of it.

You can download the free Coconut Battery, which will give you a fuller report. If it indicates that the battery has a problem, you might consider replacing it -- but the machine is over 5 years old now, I wouldn't put much more money into it personally.

i bought this one for 320 with a 160gb hdd 2gig ram and 10.6.8 gonna be used as a school tool for now so im trying to get it as up to date as possible!! its only for presentations, word documents, web and watching the ocasional movie at work

seems to be ok for now :) guess the bightness was gettin to it

Yeah, looks like the battery is good. That machine should be fine for what you want to do with it.
