Help needed please !

i want to connect my macbook to the smart tv i have asked the apple shop about apple tv but it is not possible to mirror from my macbook has its to old :Smirk: so he has advised me to get a mini - DVI to VGA adaptor but he mention i need a other cable could anyone assist on this please

We also need the model # of the TV.

Not all TV sets have a VGA port.
