cannot open web browser

My home page on I mac open, but I am not able to open anything else in the web browser.It starts to load, the blue shaded area goes about a quarter of the way, then stops. No web page.

please help

Sounds like you aren't connected to the Internet, or your ISP is having major problems with your service.
