Hi,

I want to run company software to work, and they have a security rule and a software that check if the HD is password protected. Couldn't find anything that works in Parallels/VMware settings or Bootcamp.

Is there any way to set a hard drive password protection for Windows in a Mac?

Thank you!

No encryption is needed, just a HD password, that's what the security software checks. In a ordinary PC this is made in the BIOS.

Thanks!

Since Macs do not have a BIOS, you need to obtain a hard drive that is password protected by its firmware. Do some shopping around and you should find several that will work. Keep in mind that when you're running Windows as a guest OS using VM software in OS X that the hard drive is simulated by the VM.

In order to use a firmware protected hard drive, you'll need to invoke a dual boot with the Boot Camp assistant and keep the drive attached when Windows is running. A very convoluted way of doing things since Windows can not be installed to an external hard drive.
