After tax over $1100 for an Oct 2010 model?

I wouldn't pay that kind of money for a 2 year old MBA even if it is refurb'd by Apple.

true dat

but then again i found this

Refurbished MacBook Air 1.7GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 - Apple Store (U.S.)

13" - mba - 1 year old - 919$!! and 128gb SSD

i paid like 1100 for my refurb 2012 13" mbp, with 5400 rpm hd :\

i dont really use the space but its ok, but i seen dem ssds fly like they got pigeons on they backs

which gives me decisions on my back

it is precision that i lack :(

At least with the MacBook Pro you can easily upgrade the memory and swap in a (low-cost) SSD. The MacBook Air is essentially designed to be disposable.

The Crucial M4 256GB, which will handily outperform the puny 128GB in the MBA can be had for less than $200 on Amazon. 10 minutes with a screw driver and you can laugh at just about any MBA ever made.

You definitely didn't want that first MBA you linked. Why…it only has 2gig of ram…and that's all it will ever have.

The 2nd MBA is a different story. It has 4gig of ram…and the rest of it's specs aren't bad.

But overall (compared to the 2nd MBA)…your 2012 13" MacBook has a:

- much faster cpu
- better video hardware
- is upgradeable to 16gig of ram if you should ever need that much.
- and you can always install an SSD later if you want

Even though it may have cost a bit more…the 13" MacBook Pro you purchased (in my opinion)…is the best computer of the 3 mentioned in this thread! And you'll be much happier with it 2-3 years in the future!:)

very true - i need to learn this seriously.....im a big what if er...which is why it took me 2 years to decide which mac to get...

thanks for all the input u guys - i see on apple.com its like super expensive to get a SSD in, so i will just get one online....but i heard that apple locks its laptops and you cant swap stuff out, or is that only with the air?

edit: actually i saw SSDs online for the mac air....so did they change that with the recent models?

also gonna check out that m4 - im not very handy but hopefully i can get that ssd in, or my father will help ( we built a few PCs but never really worked on laptops besides swapping ram)

edit: also check out my new mac outfit in avatar

The Retina model Macs, because of the way they are made, tend to be non-upgradeable. Most Macs models continue to be upgradeable to at least some extent. I believe your 13" is openable, which means you can upgrade the drive -- however, you'll want to check and make sure you can do this WITHOUT violating your warranty first!
