So I'm pretty techy but am not able to figure this one out. I have a 2007 white macbook, and the battery for it. The problem is that if I try to start the MB with the battery in it, it will show the apple and the spinner, but when it gets to the desktop, the backlight turns off, not the whole screen just the backlight. If I take the battery out, the backlight turns on. I did manage to plug it into a external monitor, and the MB reads the battery but says not charging. I should also point out that when I put the battery in the MB, the first indicator light blinks quickly which I have read means the battery is dead. My question is: is this just a problem with the battery or the logic board?

First, please do not cross post (posting the same question to more than one forum). I removed your cross post. Thanks.

As far as your battery problem goes... you won't really know unless you replace the dead battery. Since your machine is a fairly old one (2007) I don't recommend spending a lot of money on an exact replacement which could cost $100 or more. You may be able to find an inexpensive knock off battery on eBay for a lot less. Give that a try.
