I don't know anything much about flash player. An update pane from FP shows on my Mac desktop so I click on it to install. Next thing I get is: flash player has quit unexpectedly. I click 'relaunch' a couple times to no avail.
Now I don't know the status of flash player on my computer.

Have you tried viewing Flash content? That would be the easiest way to check. Go to this page and compare the version installed with the table.

Dont think I have ever seen this FP desktop update window, I have always updated via system preferences.

I'm guessing you see it when you have the "Notify me to install updates" option selected.

Yeh I do tend to keep all updates in my hands rather than auto, so I know what is happening.;)
