If you are a Graphic Designer, Print Designer, or Photographer you should go with the retina you get way more pixels per inch. However i have found macs are a notorious pain to color calibrate because of there naturally bright backlight. And i havn't been able to find an average everyday contrast slider anywhere in the system if some one knows where this is please let me know.

F1 and F2 keys act to dim and brighten the display. Have you tied using them to dim the display.

Way... way too many specs to list.
Dim it. Then again, I don't possess a retina and don't plan to any time soon. The matte panel is pretty easy to color manage, and so is the nec it's attached to.
