Hey guys,

First off, new to the forums.

Second off, I downloaded Windows 8 through my University for free (free for all students).

The file, however, came as an .img file

I keep reading online that I need to burn a .ISO to DVD so I can use bootcamp.

Will this also work with a .img file ?

Thanks, but will I still be able to load Windows through bootcamp using an .img file versus an .iso file?

Once you burn the image file, it ceases to be an IMG or ISO - the disc will contain a collection of files. So, as long as the program you're using supports burning IMG files as images, it doesn't matter if it's an IMG to ISO.

Make sure to burn the IMG as an image file. If you burn the IMG to the disc and all the disc contains is the IMG file itself, you will have done it incorrectly.
