- Macbook pro 15" HDAG Late 2011, quad core i7 2.5, 256ssd/750hdd 16gb memory|IPhone 5 32gb|iPad 3 64G
After many years with windows, I have finally turned to the dark side...
I did a lot of Linux from about '92, but never got on with it on my desktop - used as a server since then really though. Been using windows since 3.0. Was very anti-apple for many years. Eventually I got an ipod touch.. then and iPhone4 a year later....then about 6 weeks ago an iPad3 (oh how annoying was that!)
About a year ago I decided to have a try of OSX on my Dell XPS M1530 (instead of Win7). It ran pretty well. I got used to the OS and taught myself how to get around. I was impressed with the fact I didn't have to spend hours working how to do something and how everything just worked. So I decided to go the whole hog and buy a mac to do it right. After working on the wife to let me purchase.... I started looking.
My dell is/was M1530, 15" with 1920x1200 (iirc) screen 2.5ghz dual core 2 duo, 4gb 500gb hdd nvidia 8600gt etc... so I was undecided if I should get a 17" or a 15" with 1680x1050. I finally decided a 15" screen with 1680x1050. It's wonderful. I wish I had done it earlier.
Spec of my new shiny Macbook Pro :
i7 2.5 quad core
16gb memory
256gb crucial M4 ssd
750gb 7200 hdd
radeon 6770+intel HD 3k
1680x1050
Got it with (well paid for!) 3 years applecare, and the dvd in an external enclosure.
Brand new (obviously old stock sell off as its not latest latest LATEST spec but discontinued June 2012 stuff) but wow, what a spec eh ? £2001 inc vat
Well I am impressed with it. I could have gotten more graphics and faster memory but not for the price. Would have had to lose the ssd or something else.
I am hoping to get 4-5 good years service from her.
It arrived on Wednesday and so far so good. REALLY liking OSX on apple hardware
It has 10.7.5 on at moment, going to upgrade to ML next week I think.
I am a very happy mac user right now. I enjoy using my computer - rather than fixing it or figuring out how to work it.
Oh a friend told me about cmd shift 4 last night - how impressed was I ? I need to find a cribsheet of shortcuts and features that are available...
Iza.
