I have a MAC Book Pro 2011 (mid year) release.
Recently the hard drive started having issues and need to be replaced as per the service department.

Options given are :
1. 500GB Seagate 5400RPM - 8000 INR ($160)
2. 500GB Apple 5400RPM - 20000 INR ($400)

Suggest what to go for..

Your Mac's Specs
Way... way too many specs to list.
The Apple one is probably a Hitachi. Other than manufacturer, there isn't a lot of difference.. and Apple's price is far, far too high. For that money you can almost get a 480gb SSD... sheesh.

Since Apple doesn't offer hard drives, I suspect that IS an SSD the shop is offering ... it sounds like either the OP or the shop is a little confused, since these cannot be the same products. If they were, the shop wouldn't even bother giving you the option, since nobody in their right mind would buy it.
