I am able to move the arrow around on my trackpad, but not able to click to select an item on my macbook pro. I have plugged in a mouse, but this does no make a difference.

Any suggestions?

Is it possible that you have the preference set to ignore trackpad input when a mouse is plugged in?

Are you saying you can't click with the mouse either?

Do you perhaps have the trackpad set to TAP rather than CLICK things (I have mine set this way as the click action on mine is a bit funky).

Have you tried a PRAM and SMC reset?
