Which iMac to get?

Hi all,

Going to get a new iMac soon, but wanted to know which would be suitable for final cut pro? I edit videos on the side from time to time but want to get more involved with it.

Currently I have Macbook pro 10.4, 2.4ghz, 2 GB memory, but runs slow when I edit in final cut right now, and drops frames constantly every time I playback, rendering a video has taken up to an hour, so it's definitely time to upgrade.

Was thinking of getting 21.5 inch 2.5 ghz, but do not know if this would handle final cut.

Overall, I just want a better mac that will run final cut sufficiently without any problems like I have currently!

That 21.5" you suggest will do the job. Just make sure you get one with at least 4GB RAM, or if you have the $ go for 8 GB RAM and you wont look back

Even better go for a refurbed 2.7GHz machine and pop 2x4GB memory modules in. Buying from Apple you get the full twelve month warranty and the opportunity to take up AppleCare two year additional warranty.

Good point. I just got a refurbed MBA for $830 and couldnt be happier. They are defiantly worth the look.
