I usually sync everything by itunes, but I just added icloud.
Now I am getting everything double.
How do I disable icloud now?
I prefer itunes for my ipad etc.

I tried signing out, but with each thing it asked questions and I am too dumb to understand.
Is there an easy way to disable icloud?

No, you're approaching this backward.

Open iTunes on your Mac. Select your iPad. Select the "Info" page.

UNCHECK each of the sync areas, like this:

iCloudSyncSetting.jpg

Now to go System Preferences -> iCloud

Put a checkmark on the things you want synced on the iPad.

There, you're done.

OK, I plugged in ipad and did as you suggested, but first thing I notice are my safari bookmarks are still wrong.
I spent about an hour last night correcting them on my computer, but that did not transfer to ipad.
What am I doing wrong?

Is there anyway now to opt out of icloud?
I prefer my syncing done with itunes.
I had it all under control at one point- not so any more with the cloud.

I guess I just do not understand completely how it works, that must be my issue.

That's the issue.

The reason I'm trying to "make you" use iCloud is because if you don't you will find yourself increasingly locked out of features and services as time goes on. The iCloud syncing is FABULOUS and opens up a whole new world of convenience. Sorry you're having a little trouble with the setup.

Is it only the bookmarks that are not correct now? If so, have a look at this:

Hi,

If it is not just the bookmarks, try the long route, delete all double entries in your device, Calendars etc. Now open iTunes connect the device and follow chas_m`s instructions.

As a foot note I lost my iPhone a few weeks ago, went to iCloud locked and wiped it. Found the phone a few days later and was able to fully restored it via WiFi + iCloud backup. So to cut to the chase iCloud syncing and backups in my view are the best way forward.;D;D
