I am trying to get my companies macbooks and imacs to work with our LDAP server like our windows computers do, i am wanting to be able to sign in as a user on the LDAP server and then the mac to cache the details so they can log in again while not connecting to the network so they can procceed work at home. we are not yet able to do this and we are forced to give them local accounts on the machine because they need to do work at home.

is it possible for them to use LDAP and then connect again when there not on the network?

Are you using LDAP just to provide a global address book?
