Forgot my password on mail account

I use Safari, from day one i have continued using my AOL mail even though i opened a .mac account. I do not know the password, i need it because I bought an iphone and am trying to access my AOl mail from the phone which I am able to do but when I try to respond it asks for my .mac account password . Usually it has my favorite words"don't remember your password", but not this time. I'm lost but refuse to give up. Thanks.

When did you create this .mac account? Your use of that name tells me it was probably years ago.

That service has been shut down. You don't need it to set your AOL mail on your iPhone anyway. Delete the .Mac account from your phone and set up ONLY your AOL account.
