could not connect my external hard drive

Hello sir,

I have a problem of connecting my external hard drive ( G Drive , Gen 4/2T), i have used fw 800 and usb 2, but cant see any icon on the screen of my mac book pro,(operating system is Os X) can anyone help me to slove my problem.

2022 Mac Studio M1 Max, 2023 M2 MBA
Does the external drive work with other computers? Does it power on and spin the HD? Does it have LEDs indicating it's OK? Does the USB port you are plugging into work with other devices?

What Mac do you have and version of OS X specifically?

Has this drive worked before and stopped recently?
