Start up Disc full.....

Hey guys I'm new to here looking for some help clearing up my hard drive. I have a iMac 500gb. When i went to download the new update a message popped saying my hard drive does not have enough space. Under the storage tab in about this mac it says "others" is taking up 495gb. Please help Thanks
