Server connection issue

Hi, am new in the Mac world and need some assistance.

I have a macbook pro using the Mac OS X version 10.7.4, as am writing this, am connected to the office wi-fi of which am able to browse the internet and ping the office server but am unable to connect to the server. i have tried connecting using the finder and also the connect to server interfaces but i get the error "connection failed".

Anyone with a solution ,please help me out.:Confused:

Are you using the proper credentials in order to connect to your office server? Have you checked with your IT folks?
