• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Hey guys, So i registered on this site because i think you guys can help me setup my mac like its supposed to for what im attempting to do, I have a bunch of movies which i downloaded and most of them are .AVI, At least the one i want to burn on to a DVD is anyways, So i got Emicsoft Video Converter and converted the .AVI movie to mpeg2 and burned it onto a CD with Toast titanium 11 and i put it in my DVD player on my home HDTV and it worked fine but guess what, NO SOUND!

So i traced it to the Emicsoft converter, The .AVI had sound but as soon as i converted it to mpeg2 it lost sound...

What do i do to get sound when converting it for toast to burn!?

I've had pretty good luck with Handbrake and ffmpeg to convert AVI from my DSLR into different formats for putting on CDs and my iPhone/iPad..

Which Mac/OS do you have? It could be that before Lion you needed the Apple MPEG Playback component to get audio from a MPEG2 file.

Try converting your avi to a different format, Quicktime for example. Toast will still write it to a dvd.
