help with macbook air

so i bought a new mac book air and i have question about it. in the upper right hand corner there was a arrow that pointed toward the right hand corner and when i pushed this icon my screen got larger and now i don't have a toolbar at all and the finder bar does not show up either i went to the help option and it told me to go to the view option and click on show toolbar I've tried this a number of times with no success is there any thing that you would suggest?

In the View Menu it should say "Exit full screen." Click that. (To get the menu bar to appear, move your mouse to the top of the screen and it will display.) The arrows you clicked selected "Full Screen" for that application. That is a useful feature if you want more space on the screen for any reason.
