just switched over to cable internet. i wanna know if i split the cable wire with a good splitter will it effect bandwith? Such as right now:

Cable wire from outside comes into house and goes directly into modem. I want to take the cable wire and put a 2-way splitter so that one line goes to modem and the other to TV.

Will this be ok?

Yes it will be fine. The signals for the TV are analog and the internet are digital, I think. I'm doing it so I know it works.
