Widgets gone! Even the little cross :( Help needed?

Recently found the widgets area (I have only had my macbook (2012 version) for a week) And started messing around, Found the webpage that has all the news/games/for fun ect widgets you can download and downloaded a game called snake, It went to the install part, So i clicked it..Then the end bit where you press the finish button or whatever it is and all my other widgets dissapeared :/ even the little cross (i think its a cross) on the bottom that gets you into the edit part is gone..So its just a blank screen with the squars. If annyyonnee has any info please let me know, Sucks so bad!

Try going to ~/Library and moving(renaming) Widgets directory.

Finder -> Go -> (hold down the alt/option key) -> select library

Then open activity monitor -> find the "dock" process -> select it and quit process. Dock should restart automatically.

See if that brings back the default widgets.
