Can you elaborate on what you want to reset to factory settings? PRAM reset? Or reset OS X back to the way it comes out of the box? If it's PRAM/NVRAM, then try How to Reset PRAM & NVRAM on the MacBook Pro | eHow.com. If you want to reset OS X back to original, that's usually done with a clean re-install (after formatting the HD)..

like to reset from when out of the box?, but its all new to me, i do have the disk, i have tried putting the disck in, then hold the C button down when restarting, but all i got was the spinng gear left it for about 2hrs and nothing!

You're supposed to hold the Option key, not C.
