On my windows computer, to make a direct copy of a cd I had to use a program such as Nero to do this (i.e. one click cd copying). Can I do this on a Mac (Powerbook G4, 1.67 GHz, 10.4) using the software it comes with, or would I need another program such as Toast?

Never tried, but if you could find a way to create an image of the disc in Disk Utility than you may be able to burn that.

You could make an image and burn it using Disk Utility. You could also just copy the files to the HD and use Finder to burn it.
If you are looking for the "no brainer" "click and done" method, then yes you would need to use Toast. Still, the other methods would get you the result you are looking for, just a couple more steps.

Tried that but the cd wouldn't play in a cd player, then again, the cd player wasn't that new so maybe it didn't know how to read CD-Rs. I just wish someone could clarify on this issue. Thanks for the response though.

If you want to just copy an audio Cd then import it in iTunes using wave or apple lossless codec, and burn it in iTunes again

wait its an audio cd....... ooo then just import it in iTunes, put all its tracks in a list in the same order as the cd, and burn it.
