OS problems

I was having issues with a lost dictionary, so based on advise I saw online I reinstalled the OS disk that came with my Macbook. Now I have OS X 10.6.6 and when I try to update to OS 10.6.7 (so that I can move up to 10.6.8) I get an error message that says the volume does not meet the requirements for the update...and I've lost use of iphoto and garageband because I need 10.6.8 or later - but these worked when I first got the laptop. Any information would be greatly appreciated

You don't need to update to 10.6.7 to get to 10.6.8. Just download the 10.6.8 combo installer directly from here:

Chas, you're my new bestest friend. Not only is my OS running properly with both iphoto (which I care about) and Garageband (which I don't) but my original problem of having lost my dictionary has been resolved. So glad I joined the forum - Thanks!
