I want to scan some pages from a book and create a document from those scanned pages that I can email. Can anyone tell me how I can do that on my MacBook Pro with a HP Desktop F4400? Please be aware, if it isn't clear already, that I am a ignoramus.

You just drag in the additional pages to the sidebar (which you'll need to make visible if it isn't already), rearrange them in the order you want, and re-save as a PDF.
