After downloading and installing programs with this ext. and they remain in download folder, can I just move them to trash from folder or do I have to keep them somewhere on HD?

Thanks

Once you've copied the applications out of the disk image (DMG), you can get rid of them. However, if they include an uninstaller, it might not hurt to keep it around for later because generally, if an uninstaller is included, it's there for a reason. ;)

Use the uninstaller if available - there is also the free appcleaner - which should remove all residual files as well.

You have to either install the app by running the installer or you need to drag the application to your computer. The convention for installing apps states that you put it in the Applications folder. Once that's done, you can eject the disk image and then discard it.

Take a look at this guide.

thanks, I think I am getting it. App cleaner didn't have an installer so I think that was throwing me off. drag and drop into applications worked.
