How do install java update 9 for mac 10.5.8

I have been trying to install java update 9 on my mac 10.5.8 leopard because I need to open simulations and practice tests for my CPA review. It says I need to update to mac OSX 10.6 snow leopard. Is this true? Or can I download java update 9 somehow with 10.5.8?

Hi,

I'm not clear as to how you have been trying to update 9 but it's listed here Apple security updates dated 08 March 2011 and there is also a an update 10 dated 28 June 2011
