Friday Netflix movie night at my house this evening. We watched The Grey. Awesome movie. Somewhat unexpected ending. Chilling at times, but surprisingly human. Camera work and scenery were very good. CGI was passable for the most part. It even a had a decent "steel yourself for the last battle"-type poem in it. Somewhat reminiscent of Gladiator in a way if you pay attention to the thread linking the short "dream sequences" along the way. A bit of a twist at the end as to the main character's motivation behind what he was going to do at the beginning of the film. Only two grisly animal attack scenes which weren't too bad - animal lover here and I made it through them. I'd recommend it. Enjoy!

You weren't hit with the EC2 outage last night that took down, amongst other, Netflix? I tried to get on last night and was greeted with a never ending spinning wheel.

No outage here that I was aware of, fortunately. I had the movie on rental disk anyhow. Now that I think of it, I couldn't get Star Trek TNG to stream to ATV from Netflix later in the evening though.

It went down at ~ 11:30 (see here).

Anyway, back on topic. I'll have to take a look. Thanks for the recommendation!

Can't tell you how much I hated that movie. Totally predictable, CGI wolves ala Twilight and a very silly premise IMHO. Liam has dropped his standards where taking roles is concerned. I used to take him seriously as an actor, but ever since he did Star Wars, things just haven't been the same (again IMHO) for him.

Just watched it last night as well, (although on DVD), I thought it was an overall good movie. Did you watch past the credits? There's a 2-3 second clip that helps with the surprise (and slightly disappointing) ending.

I really loved this movie. I didn't really care for the wolf attacks either, but I did like watching the survivors' personalities clash. I didn't get to see it in theatres but it was definitely worth picking up from Redbox

I had that same problem. I thought it was a problem with my account or something. I don't know how long my was out, but it was working fine last night.

Went to the movies to go watch it. Then saw it again on Blu-Ray on Friday and still didn't like it.

Liam is awesome even after Star Wars.

If your really a fan of his you should check out Rob Roy. It has some of the best fencing, sword-fighting sequences in movie history. Especially at the end.

Taken is great. Are they going to do a sequel? If so I hope it's as good.

I thought The Grey was a pretty good movie. One of the better ones Ive seen in recent years. Most of what hollywood is putting out in recent history is crap.

It was a joke. Was referring to the ending where he attaches some accoutrements.
