Wait??

Seriously, how long is "too long"? Check your startup items, and weed some of them out if you have to.

How long is too long? Have you timed it? Mine with 10.4.3 is one of the fastest booting systems in my house. Only thing faster is my A64 with 10K Raptor SATA drive.

How long you talking about? Like D3v1L80Y said, check the startup items and see if you have a lot of things starting up with OSX. Might also be good to get a program called Onyx and have it run all the maintenance scripts.

Under a minute is too long...??? I rarely turn it off but I'm pretty sure that's how long my Mini (1.42GHz) takes...!!!

Leave it ON/Sleep :)

This website has a lot of information on the start-up speed of Macs. Read through the document and see if you can make any changes that would help.

Also you may want to clear your user caches, they're usually used to speedup startup, but sometimes they get a little mixed up and end up slowing it down.
