My macbook pro hard drive is developing a problem. I want to migrate everything to an old mac book whilst I get the pro fixed and then migrate it all back again.

I've read how to do the migration but just want to check before I do that all my 'on my mac' email folders etc will be migrated as I've a lot of emails stored in folders and I couldn't possibly set them all up again.

thank you

Buy an external hard drive and clone everything over to it. Two applications that will work:

Carbon Copy Cloner = $20 US

SuperDuper = $27.95 US

Both applications offer a free trial. (Also, the copy will be bootable.)
