• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Is there a program that would be able to convert a bunch of mov files into jpeg thumbnails for preview??? Basically what motion does in the library browser put being able to save them and use them in documents???

I have about 4000 files I need to do thumbnail jpegs of so trying to do screen captures reallt isn't a viable option.

This sounds like a job for automator...
I just had a look and you can tell quicktime to open a bunch of movie files, but you can't get it to take screenshots of them.

You can tell the system to, but then you'd wouldn't have a screenshot of each video.

You could try looking for additional automator actions that might be able to do this though... or write it in applescript if you can.

Actually got this done today..... Graphic convertor is the PERFECT program for these kinds of tasks. Did exactly what I needed to in like 5.6 seconds.
