Can I copy tracks between projects in Garageband?

I want to copy something from one project to another in Garageband. I seem unable to have two projects open at once so that seems impossible. Am I right about this that I cannot do it?

I have found only one way to do it. Delete all but the track you want and export (hit Share --> Export) the one-track project in uncompressed format. You can then drag it from your hard drive into another project. It will come in as a single region, but you can split it later.
