• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.

help! has anyone ever come across this problem?

was running fcp4 on a G4, no problems till recently when it wouldn't recognize my sony deck, since then i've tried several different firewire cables and two new panasonic cameras as decks, it still won't mount. it says "(missing) apple firewire ntsc (720 x 480) which is greyed out.

i re-installed the same version of fcp4, no good…
i installed fc studio, no good…

i've checked a/v settings. its greyed out
i've checked under video, external video, all frames… it won't change (it stays on off)
i've disconnected all external drives, no good…
i've changed firewire inputs, no good… and those inputs still recognize the external drives, so they work.

my mac is 733 MHz PowerPC G4, 512 MB SDRAM
running 10.4.2
QT 7.0.3

up until now everything worked fine, i haven't changed anything recently.

anybody have any suggestions?

What are you trying to use it for?
If it isn't working for logging & capturing, I don't know what to tell you.
If you are trying to put out from FCP>DV>VHS, or
if you are trying to get video out,
YOU NEED A TAPE IN THE DECK!

I figured this out accidentily after a month of confusion!

If this is not the problem, what model Sony deck are you using?
