Hi

I have cancer and would like to start keeping a journal for my kids to read after I die.

I'd like some advice about software that maybe someone has used to keep a personal diary. I have tried using wordpress which is OK BUT it defaults to always putting the latest post first which is no good. I want them to be able to read it in chronological order.

I have tried searching for a fix in wordpress but there seems to be a lot of code, I don't know enough about it and not sure that I have the time / energy to fiddle around and do the learning curve (!)

My needs are:

Something I can write long or short posts in every day.
Something I can upload photos / videos / sound files to
Something that remains private that I can allow access to only specific people.
If I could access it on my iphone that would be a bonus. Currently I have a Macbook and an Imac running snow leopard

Wonder if anyone might have some suggestions

Thanks

Laurie

You may want to check out the Day One app. It's on the Mac App Store, and also has iOS apps. I think it will be much better than Wordpress for what you want to do.

Day one has good rating but lacks the adding of photos to it atm. Maybe get it and write to the developers to have them do something in a coming update.

Its a pretty penny @ $45 but i think Literature and Latte - Scrivener would be more down your aisle and it has awesome reviews. I have a friend writing a book and he swears by this magnificent App. It is also available in the MAS and on IOS soon.

Cheers

My neighbor had cancer and the facility that treated her had a kind of blog website where she could create an account, post as often as she liked (including pictures), and I believe it was by invitation only. So you might ask at the location you are being treated if they have a similar service.

For my own journal I use textedit. You can add photo's but I don't do that. The resulting file could be saved forever and sent to whomever you want to receive it. Could also be nicely bound I'm sure.

Btw, it's a **** of a thing you shared here. I wish you the best in your fight with cancer.
