I am a new Mac user and am having trouble with a few beginner things I can't seem to find answers for. I have installed Thunderbird and want to use it as my default email. I have selected this in my preferences. It seems email still collects on my mail client that comes with my Imac. Is there a way to prevent this or to simply make the mail only come to Thunderbird.

If you no longer want to use Mail, simply remove the account from Mail. That will prevent it from receiving any mail.
