rip with itunes

iTunes doesn't compare a ripped cd with a database to confirm audio quality but apart from this are there any other reasons why a cd ripped with iTunes may not be as good as a cd ripped with xld or are they both likely to be the same if not identical quality? is there really going to be an audible difference between the two techniques if both are lossless?

Provided iTunes is ripping to a LOSSLESS format, there should be no difference whatsoever.
