I am totally new to working on a mac and finding it heavy going making the change. I know I will love it in the end!

Can anyone tell me whether it is possible to label or 'describe' more than one photo at a time. I can do it individually but when I select a number of photos, I can't find any way to give them al the same description e.g. My birthday party.....

Any ideas?

I use Aperture, but fom what I remember should be fairly easy in iPhoto. Honestly, my best advice is to pick up a copy of "iPhoto, the Missing Manual".

Amazon carries it if your local book store doesn't.

Why not just label the event "my birthday party"?

But in any event, yes you can batch-keyword photos, and you can batch-label them by selecting "Batch Change" from the Photos menu and changing the "date" to "description."
