• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I am working on a video for a friend to send to her sister from her time spent here. I just changed all the transitions from .1s to 2s and it caused various photo's to change in length. I am now working on changing them all back to 3s for just the pictures but it is not changing it to 3s but to 4.6s or 5.2. I go and change it again to 3s but it goes to 4.2s.
Any help in understanding why I cannot change the times would be great.
Thanks.

Double click on the transition to open the Inspector. See if you can change the overlap setting to: All, Maintain Clip Range. Sometimes you can, sometimes you can't, and I've no idea why.

You have to have a clip long enough to support the length of the transition you are applying in between,,,You may have to shorten your transitions....

An entirely logical suggestion, and one which I have thought of. However, I have some video clips in a project of 18-25 seconds in length, with a 2 second transition. I can choose which overlap I want. In another project with some still photos in at 60 seconds length and a 2 second transition, the overlap option is greyed out.
