Greetings from South Africa,

I have recently purchased an iMac 27"with the following specs:
Processor: 3.4 GHz Intel core I 7
Memory: 16 Gb 1333 MHz DDR 3
Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 Mb
Software: Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3
Macintosh HD: 1 TB SATA Disc

Copying data from the DVD to the desktop seems awfully slow. I was advised it could be the firmware from the discwriter. I made a backup data disc of 2.53 Gb and burned to DVD using the iMac. I copied it from this burnt DVD back to the desktop. The time taken to complete this task was13min 12sec.

Copying the same DVD to my PC desktop took 3min 38sec to complete.
(PC Specs:
Processor: 2.4 GHz Intel core 2 Duo
Memory: 4 Gb
Software: Windows 7 Professional
HHD: 1 TB )

I have copied several data DVDs to the iMac desktop, and all of them have taken exceptionally long time compared to the PC.

Copying a music CD to the iMac through iTunes took over 13 min.

I believed migrating from PC to Mac would be considerably faster. It now seems as if it is actually slower. I would highly value your comments, guidance and advice about this issue.
Are my Mac expectations too much?

Much appreciated

Are the specifications of the two DVD drives the same?
