My unibody Macbook 2008 (late), has had the LCD screen replaced and NOW 4 mths after has started malfunctioning in a different way.

The screen appears grey and stranded, but when you pull the screen forward or move it a normal screen will appear. Sometimes the screen will stay normal but eventually it goes grey again and you will have to reposition it.

It has never been damaged... it mostly sits on the same table where it is used.

The fact that the display has been replaced before kind of tells us that the cables may not have been oriented correctly when it was put back together. Sounds like one or more cables are being pinched off as you open and close the lid.
