Hi,

Now I am using OS X 10.5.8, imovie 08 planning to upgrade to OSX Snow Leopard. I am afraid existing working movie files will get deleted. Pls advise whether this is the case.O:)

No they shouldn't be deleted, nor should any of your other files, however, it's always best before doing anything like a major upgrade, to make a backup of your system first. Just in case.
