I want to take a screenshot of my desktop and then crop just a part of it, but I want the cropped part to be sort of faded on the edges so that it looks nice when printed on paper. Is there an application on OS 10.4 that I can do this with?
Take a screenshot with Command+Shift+3.
Download X11 and Gimp from MacUpdate
Open the screenshot with Gimp, create an Alpha Channel (Layers>Transparency>Add Alpha), use the rectangular select tool to draw a big square around the picture. Go to Select>Feather Selection, feather it by 10-20 pixels. Select>Invert Selection, Edit>Cut.
Export as a .tiff so that it holds the transparency and that's it. Good luck. :mac:
