• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Not to sound like a total idiot, but I'm having trouble synchronizing my Canon Vixia HFR10 video camera with my MacBook pro. On the camera, I can see my video just fine. But when I plug in the camera to its charger and the computer (all the cords are correct), I can't find the video in any of the folders from the camera. I have no idea what's going on...any help would be very much appreciated!

Make sure you select 'PC' mode on the camcorder then start iMovie and connect the camcorder to your Mac.

You should now be able to import the video as required.

First Connect the Camera to the Computer
I use Final Cut Express/Pro either is fine.
File>Log and Transfer> Then it will gather everything on your SD card and import it.
I haven't found a way to do this with iMovie.
