Using iPhoto with new MBA

MacBook Air, Intel Core i5 1.6Ghz, 4GB RAM, 128GB Flash
Hi all! I just switched to a MacBook Air after years of using PCs. I have a large collection of photos on an external drive that was used exclusively with PCs in the past. Is there anyway to import those photos into iPhoto without copying them to the MBA? There is no way I will have enough storage space.

Never mind...I figured out how to move the iPhoto library to the external drive.
