I know there have been discussions on this but wanted to ask again. I have a 6-year old MacBook Pro in perfect working order (confirmed at Genious Bar) but Apple battery started going bad. I have ordered cheap OEMs (A1175) from 4 different vendors, all worked for 1-20 minutes and then computer shuts down. On restart, shuts down, won't stay on despite repeated tries. This was after initial charge of 10-15 hours.

Question,is, are there any good alternatives to an Apple battery ? The cheap OEMs supposedly don't last long, but for me they seem to not work at all. Isn't there a good, reliabile OEM battery for $50-$75 ? at this rate I'm ready to pay the $100+ for a new Apple battery just to get on with my life ... Thanks for any advice.

As you found out, cheap OEM batteries are a waste of money and you actually will wind up paying more as you go through them. Not good.

I recommend buying a high quality battery from the folks at Other World Computing. They're authorized Mac dealers and stock batteries which actually outperform the Apple original. Check out this LINK.
