I'll try to make sense of the title.

I bought a new iMac 27" last year in June. Still had Snow Leopard (which I haven't upgraded to Lion and I'm perfectly fine with by the way) and of course it came with the whole iLife suite of software including iDVD.

I just recently (a few weeks ago) bought a new 13" Macbook Pro. It came with Lion already which I knew, but wasn't aware that iDVD had been phased out. Pretty bummed to say the least.

My question is, can I use the Application Disk that came with my Snow Leopard iMac on the Macbook Pro with Lion and somehow install iDVD on it? Is it on there? Will it work?

Any help you can all provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

No. The Grey Install discs are machine specific.

Ok, thanks for the heads up.

I actually was able to get iDVD working on my Macbook Pro just through file sharing with my iMac.

Yes, you could also have used Pacifist ($20 shareware) to extract the iDVD app from your grey install disks.

Even for discs that are from another computer?

If you're not trying to replace the system, and are just copying an app over, then yes that can sometimes work.
