Hi,

I have some movies that I took with my camera and would like to eliminate the audio on them and replace them with music, or someone narrating.

Search without luck.

IMovie 09
Mac OS 10.6
MacBook Pro

Thx

I've not used iMovie9, but iMovie11 will remove the audio track, and I would recommend that you upgrade as it can control audio so much better than iMovie9.

Yes, there probably is. Put the clip in a Project, select it and in the Clip Menu, there maybe a Detach Audio option. You can do that or mute the audio via the Menu, or the Clip Inspector.

Thx Mighty,

Dumb question but where is the Clip Menu. I've searched for it without luck. You don't mean the Inspector. I've turned down the volume in the Inspector, but doesn't work.

Also, if you are lazy (like me sometimes) you can just mute the audio and overlay the new track.

All the reason to get iMovie11

If you double click on a clip in a Project, do you get some thing like this, with a volume slider?
If not then again, a good reason to upgrade for the much better audio edotin of iMovie11

Mighty,

Yes, I get that Inspector. However, I can't get it to have any affect on the audio, and can't get any info on how to use it under "help"... that's why I've posted here.

I take it that the volume slider doesn't do anything to the clip volume level?

Mighty,

It does not, or at least I can't get to take any affect. I tried to totally delete the audio or put it to zero volume and it changes nothing.

You could try trashing the iMovie preference file(.plist). You'll find it in Home Folder>Library>Preferences>com.apple.iMovie.plist(or similar). iMovie will make a new one next time you open it.

Also, try a new Project and see if the same occurs in that.
